Whats It All About

What We Do During The Week

The Day Before

General Bloggy GoodnessPosted by Weekend Wireless Sat, July 17, 2010 23:44:06

It’s Saturday 17th July 2010 and tomorrow we set sail for Wales to start our charity walk. It seems like only yesterday we sat around a table discussing an exciting adventure we could do. It’s actually amazing how much planning an event like this has taken. Even now we are getting equipment prepared in the hope we don’t forget anything. Wayne Kay will be popping over at 12am in order to bring some cables for the outside broadcasting gear. Just remembered I haven’t even packed clothes yet.

Fingers crossed its not going to all be about walking. Straight after the show we will be driving down and broadcasting a live update onto Rob Smiths shows. Of course I will be using hands free and driving with due care and attention!!!! When we arrive at our base I have a little surprise party planned for everybody. Well … I say party; we are going to the local pub and having a few drinks to celebrate our safe arrival (touch wood). Got a few more things planned such as fires on the beach, swimming in the sea, you get the picture.

As you can imagine we will be taking down loads of technical equipment. Microphones, mixing desks, headphones etc. However one piece of equipment is quite frankly amazing. It’s a 3g dongle with an amplification Arial allowing us to have internet access where ever we are. I know I am a geek sorry.

Now for tomorrows show! It always surprises me no matter how much I plan during the week I always end up rushing around on a Saturday night. Got most stuff ready apart from the competition clips. Anyway its time I went to bed. Please don’t forget to sponsor us www.justgiving.com/weekendwireless

It’s been so long since I last posted I don’t know where to start. It’s late on Saturday evening and for some reason I felt like typing. It’s been a rough few weeks for me personally, however let’s not get into that. Thanks to everybody who has sent me messages of support, much appreciated.

As I write this Fraser is led on the sofa watching Dr Who on the BBC I player, not a big fan personally, and by that I mean Dr Who and not Fraser. I think that’s where our bandwidth is disappearing; currently my computer is struggling to open Google. Understandably that might be because its 6 years old, but id rather blames Fraser.

Not much planned as yet for tomorrow’s show however that’s normal, it seems to come together early Sunday afternoon. Defiantly got a prize thanks to the hard work of our producer Michael, from what I know it’s a free makeover. So! If you’re sat there looking scruffy and in need of some pampering, then I suggest you tune in to the show. With that in mind even if you’re very attractive and look stunning to the eye, why not tune in anyway.

If you listened last week you will have noticed we introduced a new member to the Weekend Wireless team, Martin. Martin will be joining us more frequently to help provide kitchen support incase Michael is off and we need a drink of tea. On a serious note Martin will be helping to take your calls, e-mails, and texts. Looking back when the show first started (nearly 3 years ago) it was just me and Fraser, playing music and getting about 2 calls and 5 texts. Now, as the show has grown along with Fraser waist, so has our team. I can only hope you enjoy listening as much as we do doing it. Hold that thought I am just going to take my contact lenses out there hurting. Contacts out and I’ve just realised its shower night! Disaster! How can I shower it I can’t see? I might have to put them back in again

So this evening we saw England step out onto the field to start their World Cup campaign. Not very impressive to draw against the USA. I am not really a big football fan, but I do try my best to understand and start conversations about it. It’s worked so far. Only time will tell if England can win the world cup, however I am so confident they don’t I am willing to promise you something. If England win the world cup 2010, I will present the radio show completely naked. On that note I am going, speak soon and God Bless

The Big Run

General Bloggy GoodnessPosted by Weekend Wireless Mon, March 08, 2010 10:29:32

So the big run is fast approaching. It’s now just under 2 weeks until we will be running 3 miles for sports relief. Worryingly I have yet to train, however this evening might be the perfect opportunity. Originally our goal was to raise £100 but this was achieved last week so now it’s been raised to £200. As the money rises so does the amount of people joining our team. Including me and Fraser its now up to 6 people. As they say, the more the merrier. On Thursday our running gear will arrive donated to us by a very generous sports company. Sad I know but I am really excited to see what they’ve ended up like. Let’s just hope I am still a medium.

If you missed last weeks show then you should be ashamed of yourself. Not only did we have comedy actor David Schneider on but we also gave away a meal for 4 including Champaign. The podcast is now available from the audio section of this web site, give it a listen. Right that’s it till next time. If you would like to sponsor our run please visit http://www.mysportrelief.com/TeamPage.aspx?teamID=43168&langPref=en-CA

Sorry For The Delay

General Bloggy GoodnessPosted by Weekend Wireless Fri, January 01, 2010 14:54:02

First of all let me apologise for not writing anything in the past 7 months. Truth be known I completely forgot. I will try my best to get a few paragraphs up each month.

So, Christmas is well and truly over, and as I write this its new years day. New years day is always a strange one, all the characteristics of a Sunday but nothing is open. Mum is preparing dinner; I think we are having duck in orange sauce with all the trimmings. I haven’t had duck for what must be 10 years, so it will be an experience.

I’ve just got side tracked by picking dust out of my key board, there is something very relaxing about getting a brush and seeing what comes out. In fact I might even get the hover on the keyboard. Anyway where was I?

On Saturday we are recording for Sundays show at a woman’s pole dancing class. I don’t actually know what to expect. Present at the recording will be myself, Fraser, Michael, the teacher and a pupil. Not a full class of woman which is a relief as I don’t envy dancing on a pole in front of a load of woman. Of course I don’t mind them dancing for me. Sunday’s prize is . . . . . . . yes you guessed it pole dancing lessons. Let’s just hope it’s a female who wins this week.

Recently I treated myself to an Apple I Phone, after having to wait weeks for O2 to sort everything out. Anyway, I now have access to Twitter whenever and wherever I am. We will be using it on the show to upload photos and tell you what’s on the way. If you have Twitter and fancy following us then search us out, weekendwireless is our ID.

Anyway that’s enough rambling for one week, oh while I remember Fraser has uploaded the new Vid cast. You can view it by going to our video section of the homepage. Speak again soon

God Bless

NEWS !!

General Bloggy GoodnessPosted by Weekend Wireless Fri, June 12, 2009 20:40:48

Dear All

A large amount of free time on my hands this week as Charlotte my girlfriend has gone away. I am now back home living with Fraser and my family. Good in some ways, nice food, free living, but bad in the sense Fraser quickly gets on my …….

Its only day 3 of being alone and we have done quite a lot in regards to the show and content. We are launching a new podcast which will be going live in the next few days. If that is not enough we are putting together a monthly video cast. Fraser’s idea not mine. As I type this he is setting up the studio to which we will be recording. If you have not already guessed he is into his video production. So lots to look forward to.

You may have noticed a few things on the web site front page have been changed around. We are now using Twitter frequently so thought we would incorporate it within the homepage.

This afternoon rather than sitting around watching TV Fraser and I went into Ashton under Lyne to meet a client. Glad to announce we will soon be offering Official Weekend Wireless T shirts. So watch this space. Anyway just a short blog this time.

God Bless

In The Garden

General Bloggy GoodnessPosted by Weekend Wireless Sat, May 30, 2009 13:45:19

Well here in Charlotte garden enjoying the weather so thought I would write to you all. Yesterday we started planning for a special few weeks of shows. Can’t tell you much more because nothing is finalised yet.

No competition last week but this week its back in all its glory with a belting prize. Went to Wales with Fraser this week and the weather was brilliant. Normally I would jump off the cliffs into the sea wearing nothing but a wet suit. Not this year, for the first time I actually felt old and simply watched Fraser and his friends. Something I did manage to do which haven’t in a while is fly my power kite. Its one of those where if your not heavy enough it will simply take you off your feet. Recorded a rather amusing video of Charlotte having a go, if it hadn’t of been for my dad’s quick response it would have taken her to Ireland.

On my previous post I mentioned how I was thinking of getting into the Twitter scene. Can now confirm not only am I using it but I am completely addicted to it. My following is now growing by the day must have had about 3 in the past week. It’s weird how interesting reading about what people are doing can be. For example Jamie Oliver goes to bed each evening at around 11pm, depending on what day of the week he may watch some TV in bed. Some people may call that stalking but I simply call it observing. Just in case any of you would like to follow me weekendwireless is my username.

Anyway as mentioned earlier I am writing this in the garden, my laptop battery wont last forever so its about time I went. In the words on Ringo Star on that stupid YouTube video, peace and love, peace and love

God Bless Gareth

Waiting In The Car Park

General Bloggy GoodnessPosted by Weekend Wireless Sat, April 25, 2009 20:10:27

Hello people! Well it’s been a while since we last wrote on the blog so here goes. As I write this I am not in great health. Call Paul and his dad invited me and Charlotte out to see a local band. Very good night indeed however I was under strict instructions from the doctor not to drink alcohol. Not because I am a recovering alcoholic but because I have been diagnosed with a stomach ulcer. Only had a few but I am certainly understanding why the doctor said NO ALCAHOL.

Hope you all had a Happy Easter! I managed to get two weeks off so it was nice to relax and do nothing. A few of my old University friends came to stay which was nice. In fact if you managed to listen over the Easter period I had them on air (Nick AKA Posh Boy and Jimmy C). It’s interesting that this year I got more Easter eggs than I ever had as a child. Not only did I get them from the usual people but Charlotte’s family also gave me some.

Did I mention I am currently typing this on my laptop in the Village Hotel Car Park! No thought not. I bought Charlotte a pamper afternoon thingy for Valentines Day last year and its only now she has found time to use it. Because she doesn’t drive I have to wait for her to finish then it’s off to IKEA. No idea exactly what we need but I am sure she will find something. It’s amazing how many people use the gym on a Saturday morning. Person after person walking past carrying all their exercise stuff (I am talking about the Village Hotel not IKEA)

So what have we got coming up on the show in the next few weeks? Well we need to go back to the Lowes Arms and finish off the feature. If you don’t listen to the show then basically we went to a local real ale pub trying some beers. They’ve invited us back to sample some new brews. It’s not come at a good time with this stomach ulcer problem. So that’s one thing which will be happening on the show very soon. I am also very tempted to get in on this Twitter revolution. Fraser already has it and reports back with nothing but compliments for the service. I suppose the only thing holding me back from signing up is the dedication it must take. Some people such as the magician Paul Daniels post things every 20 minutes. Now correct me if I am wrong but he seems like a bloke with to much time on his hands. On the topic of time I think Charlotte will be out soon so I had better go. I am going to get Call Paul to write something next week. Keep listening

God Bless

Gareth

Update!

General Bloggy GoodnessPosted by Weekend Wireless Sat, March 21, 2009 12:15:39

Hello.

So the time is 11:45AM on Saturday , today is a very exciting day for us all as we have been without a car for almost 2 weeks, today we are going to get a brand new car, we have to travel all the way to Crew to get the car but I am sure it will be fun!

So tomorrow is Mothers day a day for all the mums in the world to rest and have fun, but for mine and Gareth’s mum that doesn’t happen, for almost 2 years now mum has cooked the Mothers day meal at church, silly I know a mum cooking a Mother’s day meal. I think we have a Mother’s day show tomorrow so that will be fun, look out for my stuff on Sunday it’s all good I think.

I have noticed that lately I have been doing a lot more for the show, I have been recording and editing frank for the past 4 shows, I have been recording the comption clips and editing them for the show, also doing my own things on the show and to finish it off doing the desk. So all good for me then.

This week the school have been going on about taking our options, this Monday is the day I take my option sheet in, so this Monday is a big day for me, I am taking Drama, Media, Sider ( That is a Graphic and Web design course) and as my last option Product Design. So all the stuff I like doing.

My blog this week isn’t as big as Gareth’s AMAZINGLY long blog last week but it’s the best I can do. I am about to have some lunch before we go now to get the car.

Bye

Have a lovely Mothers day tomorrow.
